Reggie Jones-Sawyer represents California’s 59th District in the California State Assembly.
During his time in the State Legislature, Jones-Sawyer has championed forward-thinking policies that both promote public safety but also enhance our criminal justice system to make it more fair and transparent for all communities. Through every stage of his career, Jones- Sawyer has been dedicated to combatting social and educational obstacles that affect Californians both in the 59th district and across California.
Currently serving as the Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Jones-Sawyer serves on the following standing committees: Higher Education Committee, Government Organization Committee, and the Agriculture Committee. Also, he is Chair of the Select Committee on Urban Planning and Land Use in Underserved Communities, and Co-Chair of the Select Committee on the Status of Boys and Men of Color. Jones-Sawyer is the founder and Chair of the California Progressive Caucus.
Prior to being elected to the California State Assembly in 2012, Jones-Sawyer served as Director of Real Estate for the City of Los Angeles. Previously he served as Chair of the California Legislative Black Caucus, as Secretary of the California Democratic Party, Assistant Deputy Mayor for the City of Los Angeles, Chair of the Baldwin Hills Conservancy, Chair of the Los Angeles County Small Business Commission and as Los Angeles Professional Managers Association's Vice President for SEIU's Local 721.
